On September 10th, in conjunction with Fashion’s Night Out and to kick off fashion week, Quiksilver women’s held an event in Grand Central Station at ultra-hip retail shop Tia’s Place. Tia’s Place invited Quiksilver Women’s and the DIY maven, Erica Domesek from psimadethis.com, an online DIY site, for a day and evening of programming centered around our favorite collection- Quiksilver Women’s.Fashion’s Night Out is the brainchild of Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue and the city of New York. The premise is simple: invite fashion retailers across the five boroughs to create programming, events and/or windows to invite and stimulate shoppers— to make fashion fun again—flagships, tiny boutiques, massive department stores, young designers, mainstream chains, and niche luxury names alike all participated by keeping their doors open late on the evening of September 10 and implementing creative customer experiences welcoming all. And boy, did Quiksilver welcome them all!!!
In the morning we invited editors from Teen Vogue, Refiney29, Shape, Nylon, Real Simple, Vogue and many other for DIY and Donuts. Fashion editors came down and tie dyed their women’s blank eco-friendly tee’s, studded their custom Sperry Topsiders and stenciled on Goody headbands. After the DIY and Donuts we opened up the shop to the public and that’s when the crowds started to come. With all the traffic and all the creating the windows began to serve as their own art installations as customers hung their tie dyed and studded Quik women’s tee’s to dry. Passerby’s would take pictures and the commotion in the store was great. Camera Crews came through from Fashions Night Out and we even filmed a short segment for Erica’s weekly segments on I love to Create, an online outlet.
Once again, Tia’s Place is the place to be – but this time around it is in a new hot spot right in the heart of New York City – Grand Central Station!
Tia’s Place just opened this fab new location and it is seriously calling my name – so bright, shiny and full of ridiculous amounts of style – including Quiksilver Women’s Fall Collection.
Now.. here is some even better news, Quiksilver Womens and Tia’s Place has teamed up for a Fashion Night Out. Come ready to craft and create with Erica Domesek, the DIY maven of “P.S. I made this.. “. Spend the evening learning from the expert herself and shopping up a frenzy!
Bring your creative brain and spend the evening with us… we can’t wait to see you!
Four fabulous cities – one major hotel – and QUIKSILVER make up a heavenly collaboration!
This year the trendy STANDARD Hotel joined with QUIKSILVER to supply instant style gratification to all who party poolside. A vending machine grants your swim suit fantasies and spits out retro-vibe board shorts and one chic bikini all from QUIKSILVER. When the weather is blazing there is no hotter place to cool it off.
To kick off this swimsuit marriage, Polyvore.com (fashionista’s mix and match online community) held a contest to challenge their style cat’s to create looks inspired by the fab four – New York, Los Angeles, Hollywood and Miami. Close to 1000 entries came pouring in and the inspiration overflowed.
Here is just a few that have me jumping on a plane and jet-setting to the land of FABULOUS!
Our little gem in Jersey City rocked out with Quiksilver Women on an unseasonably cool night. Tia’s Place was filled with fashion lovers, music lovers and party lovers – a perfect combination.
The owner, Megan O’Sullivan, made the evening extra special by frosting the entire shop in the Quiksilver Women’s collection, and our E.P.I.C girls made their mark with a intimate performance by Tennille and a personalized “water station” explaining the need for clean water in African villages.
The evening sparkled in downtown Jersey City! (Good news for Manhattan girls – Megan is opening a Tia’s Place in Grand Central Station – set to open this summer!)

Her platinum blond tresses are the first thing you notice as she sits down next to you, but as soon as the word “wicked” pops out of her mouth you know you are sitting next to a full on rock-chick.
This New Zealand girl made her mark on the music world at 16 years old, when she won a US-based International Songwriting Contest. Her song “Hallelujah” struck a cord with it poignant lyrics as she poured out the pain she experienced after losing her father to cancer.
She has gone on to become a singer/songwriter known all through New Zealand and Australia, and with her alluring sound she is now casting her “wicked” spell throughout the US.
Quiksilver Womens Australia grabbed the opportunity to have her represent the brand and showcase the kind of woman who rocks out in our clothes.
Her style is Rock-and-Roll meets Little Bow Peep. She mixes charcoal rimmed eyes with bright and happy bows and tops it all off with her shock-white hair. She is one to watch and definitely one to hear.
She is our Quiksilver Woman of the Week.. Gin Wigmore.
“We just wanted to fill you in on what’s been going on with E.P.I.C. lately! We recently had a wine tasting event in NYC that was a huge success, raising almost $2000 that will go directly towards the drilling of our next two wells in Kibebe and Kibaha, Tanzania this August! Everyone who came to support had a great time, thanks to Moore Brothers, who kindly donated the space and the wine, and Samantha Phillips with Eleanor’s Garden Catering who provided us with some DELICIOUS food!
We can’t wait for the upcoming Quiksilver Women party on June 17th! See everyone soon.
Love – Alexi and Tennille
To find out more about the E.P.I.C. girls and participate in a little retail therapy, head over to our Featured Retailer of the Month – Tia’s Place!

Here at Quiksilver Women we love our retail shops! We love the unique shopping experience that each one offers. We wanted to show some love and let you in on where to find them, what they feature and give you a peek inside. It is our Quiksilver Retailer Exposé.. and this week we are spotlighting a Jersey City gem, Tia’s Place!
Tucked away in the historic downtown of Jersey City, sits Tia’s Place. The owner, Megan O’Sullivan, has created her own vision of a personalized shopping experience. Showcasing up-and-coming designers and niche brands as well as displaying one-of-kind furniture pieces selected by her “estate sale savvy” Grandma Tia.
Tia’s Place has become a favorite among many fashion insiders, and we can’t wait to pop by for a little shopping extravaganza!
A girl doesn’t need an excuse to play dress up, and playing dress up has never been more fun!
American Rag, our featured retailer, opened their doors for an evening of “girliness”. With racks of Quiksilver Women’s romantic dresses, piles of nautical tops and a table of vintage accessories – everyone was happy to layer on chic and pretty looks for summer.
Stylist and Fashion Editor, Beth Jones, was on site to add a little spice to each and every look – everything from adding a waist-cinching belt to the perfect floppy hat!
Twirling was caught on camera and printed as Polaroid party favors – soon to be tacked on the mirror in each girl’s own dressing room where her version of “dressing up” takes place every day.
