Inside the Personal Style Guide

Inside the Personal Style Guide

Having wrapped up the Quiksilver Women’s Launch at Bloomingdale’s, I felt it would be fun to share with everyone who wasn’t able to attend the event, the in’s and out’s of the Personal Style Guide! So here is a peek inside, which should get you excited to start dressing up your spring looks.

Signature style is what sets apart that one woman in the room and makes her impossible to ignore.  She is not just wearing the latest fashion, but is wearing something that is “so her”.  She has a defined, unique sense of style that transcends time and trends.  She is inspired by art, music and travel, and she pulls it all together with a laid-back, beach-born attitude.  She is an “it girl”; an icon-in-the-making.

The Quiksilver Women’s brand celebrates that spirit of creative, sexy and effortless style. Here we explore three signature styles that make the Quiksilver Woman.

Are you a Coastal Wanderer, the Downtown Rocker or the Pretty-Tough M.O.D?

Coastal Wanderer

Coastal Wanderer style is about carefree exploration, mix-n-match, beautiful imperfections, beach-in-your-blood and the perfect mix of earthy and luxurious.

Coastal Wanderer

Coastal Wanderer- Sound Check Shirt, Bancroft mini Skirt

Downtown Rocker

Downtown Rocker style is all about D.I.Y. and devil-may-care: skinny stripes, over-sized tanks, studded jeans, wearing your favorite threadbare tee, stealing your boyfriend’s shirt, piling on the accessories and throwing on some black boots.

Downtown Rock-n-Roller - Crazy Love Shorts, Wonder Wall Tank, East End Zip Up

Featuring: Wonderwall Tank, East End Hoodie, Crazy Love Shorts

Downtown Rock-n-Roller - Cherrywood Dress, York Military Coat

Featuring: Cherrywood Dress, York Jacket

M.O.D. (Model off Duty)

Models off duty just have that certain innate sense of style..it is all about nonchalant chic, equal parts independent cool and feminine pretty, effortless and sexy with a tough creative edge.

M.O.D. - Songstress Tank, Knockout Jeans, Seven Dials

M.O.D. Cold Harbor Dress

Featuring: Harbor Lane Dress

Artist Exclusive…

Femme De Le Closet

Don’t forget tomorrow is the Femme De Le Closet exclusive opening ceremony.  Stop in to check out our very own Kristi McKnight’s artwork.  Her paintings will be on display at The Closet in Costa Mesa, CA from February 25-March 14th.  10% of the proceeds goes to the Quiksilver Foundation benefiting Haiti.  Here’s some of Kristi’s older paintings just a little sneak peak for what’s in store for you!

Inside the artistic mind of Kristi McKnight!

“I’ve been making art since I could pick up a crayon! Now, being an artist doesn’t mean having a paintbrush in my hand 24/7…  Working at Quiksilver these last few years has honed my desire to be creative in every aspect of my life. Painting is one of my favorite things to do amongst many, and I hope to inspire and influence others through my work.”

Bloomingdale’s!

The Spring Personal Style Guide

Sprinkles! Need I say more..

Anna wearing the Knockout Denim, Songstress Tank and the Dover Street Cardigan

Me wearing the Vagabond Boyfriend Jeans

The New Wave Collection is launched and it looks fabulous sitting among the racks at Bloomingdale’s! I had the pleasure of being the stylist-on-site and was able to meet many Quiksilver Women who love the direction the brand has taken.

The Personal Style Guide was a huge hit as girls were given the chance to take home their own little book of ways dress up three signature styles: the Coastal Wanderer, the Downtown Rocker and the M.O.D (Model off Duty).

Sprinkles Cupcakes provided the Quiksilver goodies, a DJ kept me dancing all day long and women walked away with the spring collection to add to their closets. All in all a perfect day spent in Bloomingdale’s!

Music is life

We just wanted to take a moment to share with you, dear readers, a bold and obvious truth:
Music is amazing

As a source of motivation and inspiration, Music is always there to give. As we make our grueling commutes and pyche ourselves up for the tasks each day requires of us …  as we launch ourselves into each new day, each new design season, each new adventure — music provides a wealth of mood and vibe to guide and inspire. Old favorites and new discoveries are in our ears to aid us along as we work though each design, or fulfill the mudane tasks that are required to make each design come to life. Music is a motivator, a positive force that pushes us forward towards our goal of creation.   It has so many forms and diversity, so many layers and emotions … it has something to move everyone — both emotionally and physically.

Here are but a few of the sonic tidbits that we have stumbled upon lately, that are killing us with their musical genius. Check ‘em out.

It’s All Out Boy!

-1

Vagabond Boyfriend Jeans

I have noticed a recent pull towards slouchy, distressed denim. It seems skinny is sticking around.. but I am ready for something new and fresh. A denim that gives off that easy, no-fuss appeal.

With this new craving, I can’t stop looking for new ways to style a pair of boyfriend jeans. Now, let me preface my next sentence with this statement – I am a sure-fire heels kind of girl, and by heels, I mean platform “how high can you go” – so the shocker is that all of a sudden I also want to wear trainers. I know, crazy.

It just seems like the perfect thing to add to a pair of  the Quiksilver Women’s Vagabond boyfriend jeans, and while I am at it – why not throw in a hoodie, denim shirt and tweed jacket. It’s all out boy.. and I love it!

Hot Off the Press…

Lucky and Foam magazines are loving Quiksilver’s new spring styles this month! Pick up copies of their latest issues to see our Insanity vest in Foam’s “Moto Hippy” fashion trend story,  actress Grace Gummer (Meryl Streep’s daughter) looking fabulous in our pink striped Evershlott tank and our Daytripper dress in Lucky’s Style Spy story, “Trace The Trend: Shirtdresses.”

Also, if you visit Ellegirl.com this month, you can enter to win our Kerrington mini dress….we’ve been tucking it into jeans and pairing with zippered fleece and boots, and we can’t wait for warmer weather so we can shed our layers and throw it on over a bikini with studded sandals!Foam-March-2010-pg1Foam-March-2010-pg2Lucky---March-2010---pg1
